Like so many people who love the Irish Setter breed: I got my first setter as a teenager.  Of course, his name was Shannon and he was my introduction into the breed.  Then, for quite a few years, I was without an Irish Setter but never without dogs.  Before getting back into Irish Setters I had many other dogs and I even did some obedience training.  I eventually made my way back to the frolicking, beautiful red dogs.

I began looking for my first "show" Irish Setter in 1998.  I was very fortunate to have met my mentor, an incredible breeder, Ginny Swanson of Tramore Irish Setters.  I got my foundation bitch from Ginny and named her "Tori", Tramore D Toribel.  She has truly been an amazing dog and soul mate. Together we have learned a lot about showing and breeding.

My husband grew up with a dachshund during his childhood.  when I was wanting to get another "show dog" he encouraged me to consider a "smaller dog".  So....then enters the dachshunds.  I started in smooth dachshunds and really enjoyed them.  However, I had a friend and co-breeder Sherry Ceplius who had a litter of longhair puppies.  She kept encouraging me to come and visit and "just see" the litter.  Well, I finally conceded and my first longhair dachshund Miss Dally (High Plains Giddyup MLD) came home with me.  I realized that the longhair temperament seems to be more like the setters - they are silly, they enjoy going out in the snow, they are light-hearted like an irish.  I found that they blended better with the setters so I made the decision to continue with longhair dachshunds...a decision that I have never regretted.  I enjoy all dogs so having a small breed and a large breed gives me the best of both worlds.

All of our dogs live in our home, sleep in our bedroom, and share everyday life with my husband and myself.  .  We believe that dogs should be a part of the family and our dogs truly enjoy the lifestyle we share together.  My children are grown and are wonderful adults now and they continue to "put up with the dogs" when then come and visit us.

Our goal, while contributing to the breed, is to breed 1-2 irish and/or dachshund setter litters a year.  We make every effort to breed for good health, temperament, and correct conformation.  I continue to learn every day and my efforts are concentrated on breeding a healthy, happy, and beautiful all-around dog.

I am a member of the Irish Setter Club of Colorado, member of the Irish Setter Club of America, and a member of the Dachshund Club of America.  Thanks so much for visiting my site!
