"Rio" is out of our Marx/Journey litter born on October 11, 2009. This is our first attempt at a true "field and show" breeding and we are excited to get her started. She has a beautiful head, lovely front, and is very balanced. We hope to compete in the show ring as well as the field with her. Stay tuned....
May 30th, 2010 - Rio went to her first show. She was Reserve Winners Bitch with an entry of 11 bitches. She had a great time and was soooo good. I was so pleased with her...
June 2010 - Rio went to the Irish Setter National in Waukesha, Wisconsin. What a long trip for a 6 mo old puppy but she did great! She went 2nd out of a large class in Sweeps - I was so proud of her. However, it wasn't 30 minutes after we got out of the ring that she chewed up her ribbon! lol Scroll down for some pictures of her in the ring. This is only the 2nd show she has been shown in so I was really pleased with her!
October 24, 2010 - Rio goes Winners Bitch for a 4 point major under j. Sherrie Morgan at the show in Rapid City, SD. I was thrilled and very proud of her. She was Reserve Winner's Bitch the next day. Not bad for a 12 month old. What really made me happy was that she is starting to understand the show ring - she is stacking better and moving nicely in the ring.
Feb. 21, 2011 - Rio takes her second major at the Denver shows!!! She now has both majors and just needs her singles. I am so pleased - it is always nice to not have to "chase" majors. She showed beautifully - all the matches we have gone to really paid off!
April 1,2, & 3rd, 2011 - Rio takes Winner's Bitch all 3 days at the Scottsbluff show. Small entry - only 3 bitches but still nice to get the 3 singles. So...she has 10 points with both majors.
May, 2011 - Rio wins a point at the Longmont show. Four points to go...
July 16 & 17th, 2011 - Rio wins a point each day at the Eagle show. On Sunday she was Best of Opposite over specials so was a nice day. Only 1 points to go...
Sept 4th, 2011 - Rio gets her last point and is now a champion!!! Now....just waiting for her to go into season and she will be bred.
Jan. 11th, 2011 - Rio is in season and will be bred to CH. Jewelsets Second Attraction.
March 28th, 2012 - Rio whelped 4 puppies by CH. Jewelsets Second Attraction "Trent". Please go to "Trent/Rio Litter" to see her beautiful babies!!
Sept. 22, 2012 - Rio returns to the show ring for the Oklahoma back-to-back specialties. This was her first time in the ring as a "special" and she took an Award of Merit" at both specialties. We were so proud and pleased considering her puppies are only 5 months old! Thanks to Shea Jonsrud as she did a beautiful job showing and grooming her. Pictures to come....
Oct. 27-30, 2012 - Rio goes to the Grand Junction Kennel Club shows in Grand Junction, Colorado. She won the breed 3 of the 4 days and took at Group 2 on Thursday!!! I was thrilled....her puppy boy "Tank" was Winners Dog two of the 3 days he showed at just 6 months old. It was sure a fun weekend!!
Feb. 15-18, 2013 - Rio has been on a dog show hiatus and this was her first weekend out after 3 months off. We entered the Denver dog show and she was BOS the first day to complete her Grand Championship. She won the Breed on the last day!! We were thrilled as there was some very nice competition there. Thanks to Shea for all of her help with Rio.
April 2013 - Rio goes to the Irish Setter National in Fairfax, Virginia. She was shown by Monica LaMontagne who did a fabulous job with her. She made the first cut which I was thrilled with because there was definately some "politics" happening!! Please see the videos below of Monica and Rio - they are third in the lineup.
October 3, 2013 - Rio has TWELVE puppies by C-section!!! These puppies are sired by CH. Keliaire Just Stranded. Go to "Wilson/Rio Litter" to see the puppy pictures and information.
June 2014 - Rio wins the breed under j. Shelly Marx in Laramie - first time she has been shown since having her puppies! Getting her ready for the national in a few weeks.
June 11, 2014 - Rio and 3 of her puppies were shown at the Irish Setter National in Sandusky, Ohio. All three puppies placed - PJ was third in 6-9 mo bitch, Bartley was 3rd in Sweepstakes, and Ozzie was 2nd in 6-9 mo puppy dog class. I also showed Rio for the first time in obedience - she qualified for her first leg of her CD!!! It was an amazing experience and we plan on continuing our obedience together. Rio is so smart and learns so fast - she makes me look good! So proud of Rio and her babies!!!
July 2014 - I have decided to breed Rio again this fall. After long hours of thought, much discussion followed by research, I have decided to breed Rio to Vincenzo (GCH. Evergreen Good Intentions). I am so excited for this breeding - please email me if you have an interest in these puppies. I expect Rio to come into season in October/November 2014.
